GeoToad - Version 3.29.1

Table of Contents:

GeoToad now lives on GitHub.

Important News

  • Vitor Galvao has added HomeBrew support
  • For now, there is no Windows installer anymore (install Ruby >= 2.1, and use the tarball instead).
  • Ruby < 2.0 is considered obsolete and will cause warnings or even errors.
  • TLSv1 is no longer accepted, TLSv1_2 is required.
  • It is required (for Windows users at least) to install a root certificate chain for HTTPS to work properly (see manual page).
  • Watch the CurrentVersion wiki page for news about releases!

Work in Progress

  • Work in Progress will be infrequently uploaded here.
  • The patches contain only the distributable part of my own patches.
  • There may be pmopatches some day (when I have found out how to not offend GC and PM-owners).

Amphibians are fun -- but amphibians with a GPS unit are out of this world.

What is it?

GeoToad is a tool for serious geocachers. It lets you make advanced queries to find the perfect caches to hit on your day out, and export them to any imaginable format. Here is what it can do:

  • On-demand queries for geocaches based on many different constraints: query type, distance, difficulty, terrain, fav factor, size, type, unfound, trackables, cache age, last found date, title, description, found by, cache creator, attributes.
  • Outputs cache listing and details to HTML, GPX, CSV, VCF, Text, Ozi, MXF, Tiger, GPSPoint, etc.
  • Integrated with GPSBabel to output to Google Earth (KML), and dozens of other formats.
  • Optional automatic waypoint names like "TheBookOfMozilla" instead of "GCABE4"
  • Runs on Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and other UNIX flavors!
  • It's OpenSource!

GeoToad has been around since 2002, and is written using the Ruby Programming Language. We're looking for new people to join in and help develop, debug, and maintain the code. Patches welcome!
