Sukey can ask tweeters on the ground to include the hash tag #sukey with different status updates as to what was occurring in their surroundings – #fire, #closure, #kettle, #police, #response #injury, #violence, #smoke, and #assault would relay information back to the team and we could then make a structured map: http://www.cs.colorado.edu/~starbird/aux_map.html

@epiccolorado is the Twitter username for Project EPIC, a “multi-disciplinary, multi-university, multi-lingual research effort to support the information needs by members of the public during times of mass emergency,” according to its web site. EPIC asked San Franciscan tweeters on the ground to include the hash tag #SFRIOT with different status updates as to what was occurring in their surroundings – #fire, #closure, #response #injury, #violence, #smoke, and #assault would relay information back to the information scientists, computer scientists and computational linguists located at the University of Colorado at Boulder and the University of California at Irvine, who would then
