Welcome to the NR community calls!

The NR community call is a monthly meeting to foster exchange between numerical-relativity groups and codes. Here's the idea:

  • We meet every first Monday of the month at 9am Pacific time (noon NYC / currently 5pm London / 6pm Berlin) in this virtual room: https://caltech.zoom.us/j/87114806411
  • The call is open to the extended numerical-relativity community. Please subscribe to our mailing list for a monthly reminder (or send an email to nr-community-call+subscribe@black-holes.org to subscribe) and join our Slack for discussions (#nr-community-call).
  • At every call we have two speakers from different groups give brief (10-15min) talks on a subsystem of the numerical-relativity code that they are working with (e.g. the apparent-horizon finder, wave extraction, parallelization, GRMHD scheme, ...), presenting what works well and what they are struggling with. The talks are followed by 15min of discussion.
  • The speakers are preferably early-career researchers.

These are the rules for the talks:

  • Introduce yourself, your collaborators (names and institutions) and your code. The first slide should have your contact information and a link to further information on the code (e.g. a paper or website).
  • Split your talk roughly in half between what works well and what are you are struggling with.
  • Aim for 10-15 minutes (excluding questions).
  • Aim your talk at a first-year graduate student in numerical relativity.
  • If you are comfortable sharing your slides publicly, post them in the Discussions section or on Slack before or after your talk.

For questions, please contact one of the organizers:
