It is not currently possible to do a selective rollout of the (beta) Workload Identity feature. If you set var.node_metadata then all node-pools will use that value which also forces a node pool recreation.

As a end user i want to set node_metadata with GKE_METADATA_SERVER on certain node-pools only.

The fix is fairly simple: Dev25@6f61744 but that is based on the for_each PR that has not yet been merged in #257
