Open thread by clicking on the latest email, not the tiny little number on the right

I'm always been frustrated when clicking on an email in a thread just opens the most recent message instead of the thread.

I'd much prefer to be taken to thread (and for the time of each message to be clearly displayed there so I don't have to guess which is the old and newest messages in the list - as per #843) instead of just the most recent email, exactly as clicking on the tiny little numbers on the right does now

i.e. make clicking on the more recent email in a thread in the inbox message list do exactly what clicking on these little numbers does now:

This would be a lot more Gmail-like too (which, let's be frank is what that vast majority of people are used to these days, I think)

The box can be made wider so that is easier to click on.
I know it's not exactly what you want, but there are also people who don't want to.

Other option could be Ctrl + click but that doesn't work on mobile.

Sorry, do you mean it's already possible to make it bigger somehow, or are you proposing you could make it bigger?

I guess it's a lot more work, but perhaps there could be configurable thread behaviour options so we can all be happy? :-D

Other option could be Ctrl + click

That currently just selects the message for me (I'm primarily using the Nextcloud app, but I get the same behaviour in the standalone app too)

Oh, you mentioned something about the grouping feature too, but I think you deleted that. I guess because it doesn't really address the needs of this issue. Still, thanks for heads up, I hadn't experimented with that, but I quite like it so I think I'll leave both threads and grouping on :)
