This is not a perfect solution. With this idea, there is no way to create ZIP64 archives that Mac's Archive Utility can understand. But at least yazl users can create ZIP64 archives if they want them, and yazl's backward compatibility is preserved. |
New plan: we can just use ZIP64 format when we need it, and the only zip reader i've found that this breaks is Archive Utility, which doesn't support ZIP64 at all anyway. In other words, this issue is relatively easy. No zip file reader is motivating any compromise to yazl's design. |
