INTERNSHIPS FOR WOMEN IN TECH!

To address so many gender-biased problems women face, tech firms have started giving some additional opportunities for women to work in their companies as interns or full-time employees. But many times, we are not aware of these opportunities and miss them. So here is the list of the best internship and job opportunities, particularly for women in the tech industry.

1. STEP (Student Training in Engineering Program) by GOOGLE:

STEP (Student Training in Engineering Program), formerly known as Engineering Practicum, is a 12-week internship for first and second-year undergraduate students with a passion for computer science. The internship program has a focus of providing development opportunities to students from groups historically underrepresented in tech, through technical training and professional development.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • First or second-year Bachelor's student majoring in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Java, JavaScript or Python.
  • First year students have taken one college computer science courses (AP or IB included). Second-year students should have taken two.
  • Currently attending a university in North America.

2. AMAZEWOW:

AmazeWoW is a development initiative with internship and FTE SDE (Full-time Software Development Engineer) opportunities for Amazon in India, focused on bringing in top tech talent from engineering institutes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Only Female Candidates are allowed to participate.
  2. BE/B.Tech/Master degree in Computer science or related stream with no backlog and CGPA greater than 6.5.
  3. Candidate should have coding knowledge of any one programming language such as C, C++ or Java, etc.
  4. Understanding of Design Patterns, Data Structure & Algorithm, and relational databases.
  5. Should have better problem-solving skills

3. VISA CODE YOUR WAY:

Eligibility Criteria :

  • Pre-final & Final year women students only
  • Only from the selected list of engineering colleges in India (check your college)
  • Study discipline – B.E/B.Tech, M.Tech/Dual Degree
  • Study branch – All branches allowed

4. FLIPKART RUNWAY:

‘Flipkart Runway’, is an early career program for women engineers that aims to provide them an accelerated pathway to a successful career in technology.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Open to all women engineers who are in the 2nd year of their engineering course - any specialization)
  • Ability to complete a full-time, 8-week internship between May to July 2021 (exact program dates will be provided at a later point in the process)
  • Basic Level Programming experience in C/ C++/ Java / JavaScript or Python etc.
  • Students can participate individually.
