new to trackers

Hi all,
Last time i used a tracker was around 98', so mostly I forgot how I used to work.
Today I'm trying to get back to it, with Furnace. I'm trying to use AKAI MPK mini, but play freestyle while recording. What i'm noticing is that:

1. I tend to miss all timings. is there a way to "snap to time" or any better way to do this? should I just give up live recording?
2. I'm trying to do a solo channel, but pitch control on the AKAI controller does not go through, I'm guessing there's a different way to do pitch (vibrato, slides)?

I realize these are newbie questions but hoping there's something in Furnace or a way to work with it that helps

1. What do you mean by "snap to time"?
2. Here. Pitch bends don't actually do anything, they can be programmed in settings to do various things though.
