Brogue has many different delays for animations, and they're often highly inconsistent:

  • water animations, and other animations when the player is idle: 36 ms in the SDL version, 34 ms in the terminal version
  • autoexplore: 20 ms
  • autotravel: 25 ms
  • using a staff: 16 ms
  • throwing an item: 25 ms
  • probably several others

As @pender pointed out in #560, it would be nice to go through these animation delays and decide on the best values.
