Help request - Gift counts

HI I have the below bit of code, what I want it to accomplish is getting the count of subs gifted in a single instance but it seems to be grabbing the total amount gifted historically instead. am I referencing incorrectly here? appreciate any help:

client.on("subgift", (channel, username, streakMonths, recipient, methods, userstate) => {
    let senderCount = ~~userstate["msg-param-sender-count"];
    let points = JSON.parse(localStorage.getItem('subs'))[1] || 10;
    addLife(points * senderCount, 'sub', senderCount);
});

client.on("submysterygift", (channel, username, numbOfSubs, methods, userstate) => {
    let senderCount = ~~userstate["msg-param-sender-count"];
    let points = JSON.parse(localStorage.getItem('subs'))[1] || 10;
    addLife(points * senderCount, 'sub', senderCount);
});

Perhaps if i were to change it to search for sub-recipients I could circumvent this
