Notifications when favorite authors post

One feature I miss still from Mastodon is that I tend to miss out on posts from some authors that only post once in a while. Is there any to add a notification when a specific set of authors post?

that doesn't exist yet, but it's a feature i'd like, as well.

generally what i'd like is to support both a chronological timeline and a "smart" timeline. some people want strictly chronological—which i get, given the abuse of algorithmic timelines in popular social media platforms—but i kind of want a machine to highlight the things i'm interested in.
