Welcome to the chinese-support-addon wiki!
This is an add-on for the Anki 2 SRS software to help learners of Chinese, similar of the Pinyin toolkit for Anki 1.
This is a development version. Please wait a few more weeks if you are not familiar with Anki. Newer versions may have different card templates or lists of fields, that will not be applied automatically on cards you create with this version.
- Setup instructions;
- How to install a dictionary
- Templates documentation to customize the default templates.
- Frequently Asked Questions
- Chinese Learning tips.
- Edit window behavior.
If you are having difficulties typing Chinese characters, you may need to configure a Chinese Input Method (IME) in your operating system. Here's how:
- on Windows
- On Ubunt Linux or Mac OS : go to System Parameters->Language settings. You may need to consult your Operating System's documentation.
Type some Chinese, and Chinese support Add-on will fill in the transcription, tone coloring, and translation for you. Transcription can be user-corrected, and tone coloring is updated automatically.
Chinese Support Add-on now supports three different transcriptions besides Pinyin.
Notes can be conveniently edited, and are rendered in beautiful ruby notation.
You can put multiple synonyms of the same word on the same note, and Anki will generate cards intelligently, to help you learn each word.
Currently supported are English, German and French (through CEDICT, HanDeDict and CFDICT off-line dictionaries)
###What's coming?
- Compatibility with AwesomeTTS or other speech addon.
- Compatibility with the portable versions of Anki.
- Automatic generation of simplified/traditional characters
- Graphs showing the number of known characters/words
- Automatically generate recognition cards for single-characters, based on your deck contents (prospective)
