It would be great to show some visible progress and give you something to work towards. The idea is, on the course screen, to use the top 1/3rd to 1/2 of the screen to show a drawing of a bird that evolves with your progress. It starts out as an egg, then it hatches into a chick, grows, learns to fly, eats, socializes, finds a mate, builds a nest, and lays some eggs of its own.

This needs a bunch of drawings that I can't make myself, so in case somebody wants to help out, let me list what would be needed:

  • At least 10 stages of growth, ideally 20-30 so you can get at least one new one each day for an entire month.
  • No preference for drawing style. Whatever works.
  • No preference for bird species, whether real or fantasy. Probably fantasy is better because there is probably no existing bird that's instantly recognizable for everyone.
  • It has to fit a landscape orientation as well, so I think a square aspect ratio would be most flexible. Let's say at least 1920x1920 pixels for the source drawings; I can scale them down as needed.
  • It should remain legible at smaller sizes too.
  • A transparent background would be ideal; white is also acceptable. Or something better, like an actual environment! In that case we can also crop it selectively, so that it works for different aspect ratios.
  • The main colours in the app are from the Material Design palette, Green 800 and Yellow 800. It has to fit in with those.
  • Format: PNG or SVG.
  • Released under Creative Commons or comparable license. ShareAlike, NonCommercial or Zero (public domain) are all fine.
  • To be clear: this is unpaid, but attribution on the About screen with a link to a portfolio or website is absolutely fine!

Thanks to Wouter for the brainstorm that led to this idea!
