Bromite & Cromite community should not cause inconvenience to app developers. Let them remain focus on their work & development.

If you really want Customized System WebView than check Mulch System WebView in their Custom F-Droid Repo. Possibly best alternative.

I tried replacing the default webview with other alternatives like mulch and bromite, but it seems like they will not work on the recent Android version or will require some patches to be integrated into my current custom ROM.

Overlay by A4Alpha should work if installed as Magisk module.

It requires Xposed however.

I tried both methods but since I am not exactly using Magisk but KSU i think there might be issue with the support

The real problem is that I wouldn't know how to test it, also because I don't have any application installed on my device that requires the webview.
so, I confirm, for now no intention to spend time on it.

Alternate method & suggestion,

1. Set "Cromite as a Default Browser" in Android System.

2. Go to Cromite Settings > Privacy & Settings > "Allow custom tab intents > Toggle it ON".
   (Description ; Allow applications to open custom tab intents, similar to webview.)

3. Try to click & open F-Droid's apps links or any other safe links, automatically Cromite starts without any tabs, it will open in custom tab.

actually yes, the intercommunication of events/data between the calling application and the custom tab is allowed.
In cromite it is disabled.
