Partial matches with V or J gene names could optionally be allowed, perhaps based on prefix matches in the gene name. Need investigate further.

Perhaps one could specify one or more characters, e.g. -, that separate gene family, name, and allele. Partial matches at some levels may be accepted.

Additional details on which parts of the gene name that must match need to be decided.
