Which Umbraco version are you using? (Please write the exact version, example: 10.1.0)

14.2.0

Bug summary

Thumbnail added to a block grid block does not render as the path is incorrect after setting.

Specifics

On a Block Grid Property Editor, for any added Block that a thumbnail has been set, the image for the thumbnail does not render.

Upon inspecting the page, the URL being used for the thumbnail image incorrect and returning a 404 error.
image

The generated URL the backoffice is trying to use is https://localhost:44351/umbracoassets/thumbnails/rich-text.png

The URL would be correct without 'umbraco', so this is being incorrectly added to the URL.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Create an Element doc type
  2. Create a Block Grid data type
  3. Add the element doc type as a block
  4. Set a thumbnail for the block
  5. See that no thumbnail is rendered in the block
  6. Inspect the page to see the incorrect URL for the thumbnail being requested and returning a 404 error

Expected result / actual result

Expected: A URL such as https://localhost:44351/assets/thumbnails/rich-text.png to be generated for the thumbnail when choosing file with path `wwwroot/assets/thumbnails/rich-text.png.

Actual: Broken URL https://localhost:44351/assets/thumbnails/rich-text.png generated for the thumbnail.

Hi there @corey-cb!

Firstly, a big thank you for raising this issue. Every piece of feedback we receive helps us to make Umbraco better.

We really appreciate your patience while we wait for our team to have a look at this but we wanted to let you know that we see this and share with you the plan for what comes next.

  • We'll assess whether this issue relates to something that has already been fixed in a later version of the release that it has been raised for.
  • If it's a bug, is it related to a release that we are actively supporting or is it related to a release that's in the end-of-life or security-only phase?
  • We'll replicate the issue to ensure that the problem is as described.
  • We'll decide whether the behavior is an issue or if the behavior is intended.

We wish we could work with everyone directly and assess your issue immediately but we're in the fortunate position of having lots of contributions to work with and only a few humans who are able to do it. We are making progress though and in the meantime, we will keep you in the loop and let you know when we have any questions.

Thanks, from your friendly Umbraco GitHub bot 🤖 🙂

I can confirm this is a regression. I have marked it as a sprint-candidate, which means we are including it in a development sprint.
