It is very... odd looking when the background of the gutter is not highlighted.

Is there api for that? Have you seen any other extension highlight gutter?

I don't do vscode extensions, that'd be your job to look up no?

AFAIK there's no api for that.

I'm going to close this since there is no VSCode api. No action can be taken.
