Error: LTeX has not been initialized due to an earlier error.

I tried to install the VS-Code extension LTeX according to the documentation.
No checking of .tex files starts automatically. If I run LTeX: Check current document., I get the following error message as pop-up in vs code:
LTeX has not been initialized due to an earlier error.

I tried:

• Restarting VS Code
• LTeX: Reset and Restart
• Offline installation of ltex-ls and setting the ltex.ltex-ls.path

If I run LTeX: Show Status Information I can't see any errors. (output below, filepath changed slightly with (....))

Where am I doing a mistake?
I work on Linux Ubuntu.
