Cant start or make worlds while installed. (Failed to sync registries from the server : java.lang.NullPointerException)

Description

Without the mod, I can make singleplayer worlds and enter them just fine. Upon installing the mod, I get the error Failed to sync registries from the server : java.lang.NullPointerException. I'm sure it's an incompatibility somewhere, but I can't read logs well enough to know.
