I was talking with Virginie about this project and she would like to the ability to create a customized view of groups to follow and to be able to share that view (URI).
If you are interested in following a collection of groups that neither you nor your employer belong to, there isn't a convenient way to do so.

I think that would be part of the “dashboard” that each user can build or customise himself, choosing the widgets and feeds he's interested in. Choosing a subset of groups would be part of that too.
I wonder if ”sharing” that would simply mean giving users the ability to share their own dashboard with other users. So, my own dashboard would not be https://www.w3.org/dashboard/, but something like https://www.w3.org/dashboard/08b3o8xg30poibs8s (where my ID or settings are encoded in the URI, and I can choose to share that with other users).
The limitation with that solution is a person can only share one dashboard. They may want to share something different than theirs as well. If one can create a custom dashboard then the resulting URI with whatever generated identifier is what can be shared. I am of the opinion URIs should be opaque but people do read into them so instead of a hash a user supplied string (if not already taken) might be best.
For example I might want to create a dashboard for automotive and include that BG and WG, TV Controller API, WoT, Web Payments and WebAppSec, it would be great to advertise https://www.w3.org/dashboard/auto
