The platform currently includes ways to add metadata about a web application into a single page (e.g., using meta tags). It would be nice to be able to include the manifest itself using some declarative mechanism. This is in addition to an externally linked solution.

Interesting tweet of potential issues on server side:

pls, don’t do that! inlining brings this kind of code on server side: <meta name=“manifest” content=“{ “name”:<%= “noo” %>”>

concluded to recommend link rel for external manifests and see if authors switch to using data: (which would indicate some desire to use this feature).
