Most likely requires daemon to work.

Question: Would this mean having the ability to operate without access to hardware-level virtualization, too? Or is that out of scope for this issue?

My impression of this issue is for the ignite CLI only, is that right? I think the daemon will always be using Firecracker under the hood, which implements KVM, and thus requires root.
