After switching DNS from Webstudio to Shopify, the domain keeps pointing to the Webstudio site, even though there is no DNS link to Webstudio anymore. Some caching at Cloudflare seems to be the culprit.
LONG VERSION
I'm not sure whether the following should be considered a bug of Webstudio, or rather a bug at Cloudflare, but here's the situation.
During maintenance on a Shopify website at b2bshop_duco_eu (replace underscores with dots), I have pointed to the DNS of the shop to a temporary mini website on Webstudio. After 5 minutes or so, the switch was succesful. After the maintenance, I pointed back to Webstudio. A day later, DNS has propagated fine, but my shop url keeps loading the Webstudio site. To rule out any DNS-caching issues, I have also connected my local DNS directly to the Shopify A-record (23.227.38.65). This confirmed that DNS is not the issue.
After some research, it appears that both Webstudio and Shopify are using Cloudflare. Even though the DNS is pointing to Shopify, it seems that some caching in Cloudflare persists in loading the Webstudio site. I have no idea how long this will persist and since I'm not the direct Cloudflare customer here, I have no control over purging anything for my domain. I am not managing DNS at Cloudflare either.
For your information: Shopify is giving the following error for my domain:
"Your domain has a Cloudflare Proxy, which is not supported by Shopify".
As a temporary solution, I have created a new domain where the shop loads fine and redirected the original url to the new url. I do want to revert this as soon as possible though, as it creates confusion for both customers and Google.
Questions
For this specific case, are you able to do a 'Purge everything' for b2bshop_duco_eu (replace underscores with dots).
For the general case, it would probably a good thing to purge automatically once a site has been unpublished at Webstudio.
Thank you for your assistance, and please let me know if you need further details.
