What SolaX inverter are you using?

I need a bit of help from the community.

I don't really know which SolaX Inverters this works with in the current state. There are 4 Generations of Hybrid Inverters and numerous string only inverters as well as add on battery chargers.

I would also like to move away from having to manually select an inverter type when setting up the component, as less tech savvy users might not exactly know what inverter they have.

Ideally I would like to know the following:

If Hybrid what Gen it is (less important if you don't know)

Hi,

I have the same invertor. I dont have a dongle but have a network cable directly connected to the invertor's internal network connection.

Solaxcloud works but i have never got any local mode apps or add-ons to succesfully speak to the invertor (same network subnet, using the invertors DHCP reserved IP address).

Do I still need a dongle to allow local network control of the invertor? Finding it hard to find answer to this.

If I do need a dongle, I would prefer a wired one but unclear as to which ones will work with my invertor - which one are you using that works with an X1-Hybrid-5.0-D-E, serial H1E5?

If your Inverter is already mentioned and the details are correct you don't need to provide the information again.
But if you have a different model or a different Charge / Discharge current can you please comment.
(Charge / Discharge current - as indicated on the Inverter LCD or Cloud, not in the Integration)

If it is set as Gen3 X3 do you know if all the values are correct?
I am guessing that for Battery Charge / Discharge Max Current is higher than the 20Amps that the Integration is restricting them to at the moment.
Is the Battery Charge / Discharge Max Current actually 25A on the Inverter / Cloud Portal?

On the F3E10 retrofit, is the owner connected to it via Ethernet or are they connecting over RS485?
If they are connected via Ethernet was the port miss labelled on the Inverter?

There is a user with another variant of the X3 Retrofit with a Serial starting F3DE, but we are unsure if there is actually an Ethernet port or not on that Inverter?

On a GEN4, you need to anter the superuser password in order to see the advanced settings section.
The chare / discharge max current are under that section.
The normal password does not give access to the advanced settings

In our Home Assistant setup, you need to activate the unlock button (latest released version unlock has a bug, so you may need to use the beta prerelease version for the time being)

Going forward the Integration will self setup itself based off the Serial Number and the known parameters. Saves having all the tick boxes at the start!

I wouldn't be surprised if this Inverter gets down rated to 25A as well if it ever gets a firmware update.

I noticed the Gen3 X1's started off as 25A but got down rated to 20A after a firmware update as it wasn't behaving correctly.

I have this all working and data is coming through, however I am quite often seeing glitches where the data for half the items, Battery SOC being one of them just vanishes and then comes back a few minutes later.
At the same time it spikes a GW size peak into my solar generation.

It's how energy statistics is designed in Home Assistant. An example:

If your battery is 100% and drops to 0% because of the communication glitch, and back to 100% then those differences are seen as usage and generation. Imagine the same happens to other sensors like import, generated PV or export. Therefore, statistics is to think that your generation doubled if total figures keep changing from 2 to 0 and back to 2 recording it as 4. A simple example but could be valuable to understand better.

Homeassistant is connected with WAVESHARE. In the settings of the integration I have selected port 502 and "Modbus RTU over TCP".
On the inverter Modbus and 19200 rate is selected.

I've just got my Solax string inverter working today and went straight to configure this integration :)

Unfortunately, it doesn't work and errors with the below...
"unrecognized inverter type - serial number : unknown"
and...
"SolaX: cannot find serial number, even not for MIC"

I'm connecting via the preferred Waveshare to IP device. Have set the settings as per the instructions (baud rate for the G3 model) and checked the inverter address is 1 on the Solax app settings.

I've checked the manual for the COM port pin outputs and confirmed the Blue and Blue/White are the same as others for A or B too.

All I see in the HA integration is 1 device with 4 entities as similar above:
Battery Awaken
Unlock Inverter
Unlock Inverter advanced
Inverter Temperature

Any suggestions on what to check/modify?

Hi Will. Am I right in assuming the waveshare exposures all entities available to it via this integration?

I ask because I don’t have an entity related to export data. But I don’t currently have a CT clamp connected to the inverter.

If I buy a ct clamp, I know the solax app will then show export data. But will your integration via the waveshare detect it too?

I don’t want to buy a clamp only to find it won’t be available over the waveshare.

At the moment the Air/Boost/Mini and X3 MIC Gen2 don't report the Modbus Power Meter / CT Clamp.
The registers don't exist in the Inverter / documentation.

But there is no saying support won't be added by SolaX. The X3 MIC Gen1 recently had a firmware update to include those Modbus Registers.

You are probably best emailing SolaX to ask if they are present / looking into future updates.

I have working your integration in HA via modbus (rs485/usb convertor) on my X1 boost for few months already. I have asked Solax support to add Grid Import / Export registers to my X1 Boost via Firmware upgrade so now I have few more entities new, however they are not active. Can I use these entities with my inverter and is there any way to control export in HA please? I would like to control/reduce export based on solax inverter voltage entity, " when solax inverter voltage is highier than 252V reduce export or total power to 2000w" is it possible? Thank you

However, I'm encountering the following error message:

On a positive note, I have successfully resolved the connection with the inverters over USB-RS485. It was a bit tricky, and to assist others facing similar challenges, I will share the troubleshooting steps I took for the Modbus-USB in a separate topic.

For context, here are the details of my setup:

Inverters: 2 identical X1 Boost G4 5K inverters
Configuration: Master/slave setup with a smart meter connected to the master
Power Configuration: Monophase
MPPT Configuration: Dual MPPT

To avoid conflicts, I disabled parallel mode and set the slave's address in the integration. The slave is not configured to read data from the smart meter.

Seeking urgent help to resolve this issue. Any guidance is highly appreciated.

I don't have any access to updated docs, so I don't know what the Parallel Registers are. So you will have to add them in as two separate Inverters for now.

1-The inverter is a single-phase unit, yet the parameters displayed are for a three-phase system. I suspect this discrepancy is causing the values to be (Picture-1).

2-I conducted an overnight test, simply keeping the connection active, to assess the stability of the RS485 link. Unfortunately, it appears unstable as indicated by the error in Picture-3.

I've confirmed that the USB/RS485 connection is functional using Realterm. Regarding the second issue, I will continue to investigate for any potential problems outside of Solax Modbus but I wanted to let you know.

Are you getting ERROR unrecognized inverter type - serial number : unknown
If so you don't have a working Modbus connection.
