The ability to specify an output file when using /inst/bin/knit was lost as part of the changes that closed #500. It looks like this feature was supplanted in favor of allowing knit to accept multiple input files.

I found the output option very useful for maintaining final reports and their source files in separate directories, so I'd like to cast a vote to bring it back.

Now you need to use the -o option, e.g. knit foo.Rnw -o foo.tex. Thanks!
