Question

The current release fails to download from Youtube and suggests the user make a bug report.

The official "solutions" provided on github include manually reinstalling a nightly build and using a different program.

  1. When will a conventional update be released?
  2. Can we expect the -U flag to arbitrarily fail in the future, and will the recommended solution be to manually reinstall the program every time?
  3. If the program fails to update, cannot identify the problem, and recommends a bug report be filed, how is the issue "solved"?
  4. Why the opacity? -U has worked for years. Why is it broken now?
  5. Since you have all this free time to close questions asking about it, why not just push the update and put an end to the bug reports?

Every duplicate issue makes it less likely that a new release version will appear. #31530, #31585.

However, once a release has been made, it should be easier (x10) to do so in future.

Oh, I see. You're refusing to provide the update out of spite.
