How to disable a plugin?

I am trying to disable the status bar plugin (which shows the mode and keybinding related to that). Is there a way to disable that plugin

The way to 'disable' what's default, is to create a configuration where the status bar isn't there.

Use --dump-config and rewrite the configuration with an empty plugin section.

by default it is:

plugins {
    tab-bar { path "tab-bar"; }
    status-bar { path "status-bar"; }
    strider { path "strider"; }
    compact-bar { path "compact-bar"; }
    session-manager { path "session-manager"; }
}

Take out what you want from it.

Bro I tried commenting out pluggins but it didnt work

Ok, you're right, that's not enough, there is also the default layout.

You can either use default_layout "compact" or create a new default layout.

First create the layouts sub dir in ~/.config/zellig, then place a layout file named default.kdl to replace it.

If you run:

mkdir ~/.config/zellij/layouts
zellij setup --dump-layout default > ~/.config/zellij/layouts/default.kdl

You will start with the following:

        plugin location="zellij:tab-bar"

    pane
    pane size=2 borderless=true {
        plugin location="zellij:status-bar"
    }
}

You can edit the file you created and change the default layout, after that restart zellij, it will be applied.

I have this in my ~/.config/zellij/layouts/default.kdl (and I know nothing about creating layouts and got this from a discussion comment). Can u please tell me where to put two lines to disable two bottom pluggins

Just take what I posted as "you will start with" and remove the unwanted plugin sections.

without the status bar the default.kdl file will look like this:

layout {
    pane size=1 borderless=true {
        plugin location="zellij:tab-bar"
    }
    pane
}

If you don't want to mess with layouts, use the built in compact layout - it places the tab bar at the bottom without a status bar.

One other thing that might be biting you in the behind, if you're pulling hairs, delete the ~/.cache/zellij dir and restart zellij.
