Urgent: Rename domain name to zf2modules.com #284
Comments
Awesome! 👍 |
@GeeH awesome indeed! And for the old website we just serve a redirect? |
@Ocramius yep! |
I'd like a full redirect, not a request forward :-\ |
To clarify, I'm proposing a 301 Moved Permanently redirect, my wording above was bad. |
How about renaming the repository as well, then? |
Also, can we have PHP 5.5+ then? |
Afaik, prod box is already 5.5 /cc @qmanjr5 |
It's running 5.4, actually. I can replace it with a newer version if need be. |
@Hounddog comments? |
+1 for the new sitename! |
👍 sounds like a charm |

if we rename the domain - just some idea - why not to zfmodules.com and give the option to submit zf2 and also zf1 modules, so when zf3 is released there is no need to create a new domain - one zf module website for all zf versions. |
You are right @ins0 and zfmodules.com is already registered somewhere. |
Apparently zfmodules.com is registered to a certain @EvanDotPro so there should be no problem there. |

sounds good to me |
+1 go for it |
go go go |
Uh, good catch, @ins0. I'm totally for zfmodules.com! |
And renaming the repository then, too, to reflect that. |
This has been fixed now, but the debate is still open if we think it's viable. |

is this still under discussion? i know this problem exists for a long time, but we should need a solution soon. this is a critical blocker (like #251) when code changes doesn't reach the server. i read many positive feedback here, what steps can we do to speed up the process? what steps do we take? |
Let's keep the ball rolling! |
Also, can we have PHP5.6 for the new server? |
Apologies, I've been busy. Here is the state of play. The new server is now serving the site, it's running Nginx and PHP FPM 6.5.4. Currently is it designed to respond to only zfmodules.com with modules.zendframework.com and zf2modules.com doing a http redirect to zfmodules.com. However. Something is not right as I would expect a redirect from modules.zf.com to zfmodules.com but that doesn't appear to be happening. G |
@GeeH the github application redirect is correct?! |
Yes, it is using PHP 5.6.4. |
Any news on this one? |

maybe this issue is closable |
I think it is, zfmodules.com works fine for now, doesn't it? We've got redirects in place from and this domain is good to serve modules for ZF2. |
At the moment, the domain name modules.zendframework.com is under the control of Zend. As they don't want to point their domain name at an external server, at this point there is a proxy server at Zend that forwards all requests to modules.zendframework.com to the internal domain name of the server at Roave.
It seems that this server is currently down, and getting some answers and support from Zend as to where it is and who can fix it is very difficult.
Today, the domain name zf2modules.com (which has also pointed at the modules website since it's inception) became available to buy, so I bought it. It is now under the control of Roave. I propose, at this point, that we rename the website to zf2modules.com so that we have control over the domain name.
To provide backwards compatibility I will then get Zend to http forward modules.zendframework.com to zf2modules.com.
The added benefit here is that I will buy the https certificate for zf2modules.com so in the future we can flip the site to be https only.
Thoughts?
