Enable_M2_Volume vs. Synology_HDD_db scripts? #81
-
I'm a little unclear on this. I am interested in using two m.2 drives (non-Synology) in a DS918+ as a storage pool if that's possible. Right now I'm on DSM 7.1, considering updating to 7.2. It sounds like I would want to run Enable_M2_Volume to set up the storage pool on 7.1, and then set Synology_HDD_db to run on every startup. Alternatively, if I upgrade to 7.2 first, I can just run Synology_HDD_db to run on every start up, and I don't need to run Enable_M2_Volume because I can set up the storage pool in the DSM GUI? |

You will need DSM 7.2 for Synology_HDD_db or Enable_M2_Volume to allow creating an NVMe storage pool on a DS918+. I would run Synology_HDD_db and reboot then schedule it to run at start up. If storage manager lets you create an NVMe storage pool then that's all you need. If storage manager still won't let you create an NVMe storage pool then run Enable_M2_Volume and schedule it to run at shut down (and leave Synology_HDD_db scheduled to run at start up). |
