Looking at the U.S. census 2016-2017

  • The goal of this project is to give a visualization of population change. Specifically, I wanted to look at whether degree-holding indifiduals were more significantly more mobile. I have also attached a few charts and other features that I found interesting along the way.

  • Here is the finished app.

    • The core information was gathered from the US Census Bureau through their FactFinder tool. Check out FactFinder here.

    • Map made possible through the 'leaflet' and 'tigris' packages.

  • Here is the GitHub for the project if you are interested in the process or methods employed.

  • The US Census Bureau is great at collecting data, but not great at organizing it, so this was a data cleaning journey for me. By professional standards I still have much to learn, but I am pleased with the progress. If you are interested in the progression, check out the initial CSV files.
