In leu of an official CitiBike open data portal. Citizens are building their own open data systems. This is a collection of official and unofficial CitiBike NYC apps or tools. ( On Bike Share data tools and visualizations you will find a collection of other bike share tools and apps. A majority of them are open source. )

CitiBike Desires (or Data/Apps We Can Make)

  • TripModeler: What if we try assuming/estimating an average trip length, use the station dock counts, average speed of the bikes, and terrain - then we could try to model what trips are likely (based on current state of the docks).
  • ShareMyTrips: A platform for getting people to share their trips, either by copying and pasting from CitiBike or from drawing on a map, or by offering their openPaths data or something like that.
  • OpenDock: Crowdsourcing app to verify dock counts?
