What is an AIP?

Packaging can help with storing and arranging the related files of an archival object.

The archival content processing can result in the creation of logs, reports, derivatives, and metadata. The digital content is stored in an AIP package that includes preservation and access copies, administrative metadata, and checksums. The descriptive metadata is added to a corresponding AMS database entry.

Here is the AIP package structure:

  • Package Named After barcode: HU_OSA_[0-9]{8}
    • Content/
      • Preservation/
        • Preservation master file
      • Access/
        • Accesscopy file
    • Metadata/
      • Preservation/
        • Preservation master file checksum
        • Technical metadata from the preservation master file
        • Descriptive metadata from AMS
