In our BLE midterm report, I state the BLE follows these guidelines:

FAIR - Guidelines to improve Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of data (Wilkinson, et al., 2016)
Ecological Metadata Language Best Practices (Environmental Data Initiative, 2017)
Guidelines for LTER Information Management Systems (LTER Information Managers Committee, 2018)
Guidelines for LTER Website Design and Content (Downs, et al., 2018)
