A Zenodo consultant recommended adding this file to the github repository (and similarly for CICE), to reduce the amount of editing needed for the zenodo record when a new version is released. I have not tested this, and so I'm not sure whether things that are usually filled in automatically, such as the description, would now not be filled in. It seems possible that this file could be modified prior to a release so that no editing on zenodo would be necessary. The current author list is that used for the most recent release of CICE, v6.0.1.

For the record:

Yes, it is indeed possible to add a kind of template for your Zenodo.
To do so, you will find documentation by going:

1 - on your Zenodo account
2 - on the GitHub settings
3 - on your current release
4 - on the 'metadata' tab (as shown in the attached picture)

The parameters you can set and their formats are the same as the ones defined in the API documentation: https://developers.zenodo.org

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Best regards,
Francois
