Multi Store Item Editing

Andy Theuninck edited this page Jul 31, 2015 · 2 revisions

When running Office in HQ mode, each item has separate settings for each store. Not all tools support HQ mode at this time (in most cases this means either a tool will only update the HQ store's item or it will update all stores' items without allowing separate settings).

The item editor

The item editor shows a tab for each store that has a record of the item. Switching tabs allows description, price, etc to be edited for each store.

The Sync tab has special behavior. If the item exists at all stores, clicking Sync will update every store tab to match the currently visible one. If the item does not exist at all stores, clicking Sync will create the item at any stores where it does not exist. Hovering the cursor on Sync will tell you what it does for the current item.

The product list

The product list tool will display multiple rows for items that exist at multiple stores. Each row is independently editable. The first letter of the store's name is displayed by the UPC to indicate which store a given item belongs to.

Syncing to lanes

On the lane side, each item should have exactly one record. This makes syncing from Office to the lanes slightly more complicated in HQ mode. For editing operations that sync immediately, what generally happens is the HQ store's item records are sent to the HQ store's lanes. The Synchronize menu option may need to be adjusted by an administrator. By default the menu option copies all records from Office to the lanes. If items vary on a per-store basis this will cause problems. Symlinking product syncing to the provided products.multi.php will instead copy the store server's records to its lanes.
