PxStat is a Data Dissemination Management system. This means it provides many useful functions for data owners to provide managed access to their data by consumers while providing flexibility to comply with the often-conflicting priorities of open data, privacy control and business policy.

PxStat has embraced an open approach to data and systems. PxStat is a free, open source, web-based software to encourage collaboration between statistical producers with support for integration with the PX Standard.

PxStat is RDF and LOD (Linked Open Data) ready to enable achieving of "5 Star Linked Open Data". It is supportive of the Px standard international community, with easy import and production of Px dataset files.

Some of PxStat’s main features are:

  • It allows for the publishing of Statistics in several open data formats.
  • Its lightweight design provides a modern responsive and efficient web interface for human centred interaction on many different devices and browsers.
  • It allows for dividing of data by intuitive human user interaction to create custom tables, charts, and maps.
  • Automation by API calls allow for repeatable results and automatic updates over different time periods in real-time as new data is published.
  • It provides an interface that reflects your own branding across charts, maps, and widgets.

PxStat is designed to allow greater flexibility for End Users and consumers of data and management functionality for data owners and controllers. PxStat is a web-based application which makes it easy to deploy for owners and easy to use for all users. It is available on all modern browsers and can also be accessed via an API interface for streamlined use and automation.

End-Users can:

  • Search for data based on themes, key word searches of classifications and meta data or direct table names.
  • Pivot data based on classifications, statistics, or time periods.
  • Explore and filter data, then download or automatically generate code for embedding the results.
  • Directly download data in any of several formats (JSON-Stat, PX, XLSX, CSV)
  • Generate code dynamically to allow Users to share and automate results easily in webpages.
  • Subscribe to store favourite tables and sign up to status notifications.
  • Visualise data with charts and maps.

Data-Owners can manage the publication of their data through a Workflow: Workflow Management allows for:

  • The creation of datasets from scratch

  • The Editing of existing datasets as templates to create a series of similar statistics quickly.

  • The Updating of existing datasets with new data points quickly by including additional periods using an intuitive graphical user interface.

  • Importation for e.g., using datasets for pre-screening, approval and adding notes.

  • Collaboration between different team members and roles at all stages.

  • The identifying of and prevention of issues before going public with the data.

  • The addition of Maps to support geographical information.

  • Version control and the scheduling of releases in advance or publish immediately.

  • The Implementation of Embargo policies.

  • Access Control over who can see the data and when.

  • The Comparison of data and meta-data across different release versions.

  • The Monitoring of data user interactions with Analytical Tools

  • The Inclusion of support for multiple languages at both the software and data levels.

PxStat also provides the means for system owners to give different users access roles and groups to allow third parties to remote login, manage and to publish their own data and control access to datasets.
