Engineering Status

Execution

The team has started second weekly sprint of 21.04 release cycle (Sprint 12.2). Release 21.04 marks the first production upgrade of the Casper protocol. The top priority is to launch Mainnet and keep it up and stable.

This release will focus on Performance & Sustainability.

The goal is to patch Mainnet with the first round of sustainability features:

  • Reduce Protocol State Memory Consumption
  • Networking Robustness

Release

Tag v0.9.3 with Rust node was cut on 15 March 2021 and deployed for tests.

Delta Testnet

Delta Testnet resumed on March 13th. Current status for DELTA-11 Block Height: 3186 with 100 Validators and 334 bids

Current Focus

Performance, hardening, and production engineering work.

Highway

  • Find possible arithmetic overflows in consensus.

Node - Rust

  • Make BlockValidator validate blocks against the chainspec.
  • Prototype joiner.
  • Remove the Era Supervisor from the joiner.

Test and SRE

  • Support testnet.
  • [events] SRE backed store of event stream from networks.
  • NCTL & STESTS support & extensions.

Ecosystem

  • JS SDK: Implement CLValue types.
  • Transfer repositories to casper-ecosystem.
  • Implement casper_contract DSL.
  • Casper course slides and recordings.

Economics Research

  • Public-facing auction docs improvements.
  • Slice & dice platform performance/evolution data from SRE.

Contract Runtime

  • Design Doc: Finish deprecating purses.
  • Delete Nodes In Merkle Trie.
