A hopefully complete usage guide to the web UI

The web UI consists of five screens accessible via the drawer opened by clicking on the 'hamburger menu':

  • Normal query
  • Anki mode
  • Full-text search
  • Library management
  • Settings

Query

The first two screens are divided into three columns:

  • Left: search bar, suggestion, history
  • Middle: retrieved definitions
  • Right: dictionary list

Full-text search mode only eliminates suggestions.

Left column

Suggestion/History
  • Navigate through the word list with the up/down arrows.
  • Press enter to search for the highlighted suggestion.
  • Click on any word to search for it.

Middle column

  • Click on a word to search in a new tab or this one, or set it as the search term in normal query mode.
  • In Anki mode you could select/copy text freely.

Right column

  • Click on a dictionary to navigate to that one. In Anki mode this copies the HTML content to the clipboard as well.

Here's how to copy the HTML mark-up into Anki, as shown below. First click on the <> icon in the top right corner of each field to enable HTML editor, then paste the copied HTML into it and you'll see nicely formatted articles show up above.

Management

  • In the Dictionaries and Sources tabs, you could use drag-and-drop to reorder the dictionaries/groups.
