Ⅲ | Destination Home Online FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Due to the influx of people joining our Discord Server, I've decided to compile a set of FAQs. Hopefully, this (FAQ) post will answer most of your inquiries about this project.
ℹ️ | Currently we are in our closed/internal Alpha-Testing phase. During this time we are working on fixing the following network services & functions within Home's intricate ecosystem. |
---|
- Adding additional security services to protect our future network & community, as we know Home had many fame-breaking exploits during it's time on the PLAYSTATION®3.
- Ensuring that our Home client is compatible with all PS3 firmware e.g., 4.89 offical firmware.
- Fixing any broken services & functions e.g., broken video content, network activity between minigames.
- Localization for all objects & all public/private scenes.
- Stress testing our current network infrastructure.
Just with any massively multiplayer online title, our online services will go through rigorous development cycles/stages to ensure that once we fully release Home back to the masses, we can ensure that most issues are sorted out. Down below here are the following development roadmap/pipeline that we are adhering to.
-
1. Closed Alpha - Internal testing by Testers/Helpers and Developers.
-
2. Closed Beta [Session 1] - Testing by Cache Donators & Nitro Boosters.
-
Closed Beta access will be expanded in four incremental phases:
- Phase I: 20 people.
- Phase II: 50 people.
- Phase III: 100 people.
- Phase IV: All donators/boosters.
-
-
3. Closed Beta [Session 2] - As above but with improvements, fixes and more content added to our client.
-
4. Open Beta -- Early Access available to all members of the Discord.
-
5. Official Release.
Note there is no ETA for each stage! Developers work in their free time and any real life responsibilities e.g., college, work, family matters will dramatically affect progress; please be patient. |
---|
⌛ | During anytime of our Closed Beta phases any items/rewards that a users earns can be wiped due to applying vital patches to our network services & management systems. |

- Thank you Fuzz for this question suggestion.
📶 | Users will need to have an active PlayStation™Network (PSN) account, to access PlayStation Home online. |
---|
📶 | When an RPCS3 custom client is released, users will need to set up an RPCN account. |

Will trophies work for PlayStation Home? | Details on the current status of trophy support for PlayStation®Home.
🏆 | The simple answer is yes! The 1.86 retail client will have trophy support on the original PlayStation 3. |
---|
Note by earning trophies on PlayStation®Home certain trophy sites might ban/dismiss you from earning trophies from a defunct title such as PlayStation Home. The Destination Home Team, are not responsible for such risk. |

👕 | Any purchases you made in-game prior to PlayStation Home's closure on April 1st, 2015 will once again be accessible to you IF you're using your ORIGINAL ACCOUNT. Barring any potential risks involved with accessing the game post-closure, we're also unsure if this will have a reaction from Sony so it's best to tread lightly -- though a response from them is probably unlikely. (Things not stored on your PSN account are excluded from this e.g. rewards, furniture layout, etc). |
---|
Note your original purchases will not be synced to RPCN as your items are tied into PlayStation Network’s entitlement infrastructure. |
---|
If I already have PlayStation®Home installed can I just access the Destination Home Servers, with a simple DNS change?
🌐 | If you already have the PlayStation®Home installed you will need to delete your version since our client has enhanced security components that allow you to connect to our private servers. However, BEFORE deleting your Home application, you should highly consider donating your data to the team as we can restore even more Home online content for our network infrastructure solution and preserve any digital data that was once alive on Home's networking implementation. |

🤖 | As of 6/23/2022 the Destination Home Team has now deployed our official Cache Bot that automatically accepts Home cache donations for our community in our Discord Server. To get started users can type in the following arguments/commands: |

🎁 | Sadly, users will need to re-earn rewards on our server as all original reward client data has never been archived as it was internally handled by Sony. However, on the brighter side of things, users can earn rewards again for both respective platforms: RPCS3/PS3 client. |
---|
Are RPCS3 and PS3 servers separate? Can I share my "progress" between two services (RPCN & PlayStation®Network)? What about general cross-platform/cross-client support?
🎮×💻 | RPCS3 and PS3 clients are connected to one centralized network services, meaning clients will be able to fully interact with each other in the same lobby. However, there are some technical limitations/bugs that will cause certain games not to work as intended when it come to full cross-client support. |
---|
- For instance, the Personal Water Craft Jet Ski Race minigame in Granzella Southern Island Hideaway only users on the PS3 client will be able to successfully connect to a multiplayer lobby session. In contrast RPCS3 users will unfortunately not be able to join as certain network functions on RPCN has not fully implemented to support all of the necessary PlayStation®Network authentication service calls.
- Regarding "cross-saves" between your PlayStation®Network account on PS3 and your RPCN account on RPCS3, has yet to be determine by the development team as we have not yet determined the technical hurdles and compatibility issues this might cause between clients. However, with that being stated Home Services such as avatar saves, rewards, and furniture layouts are all entities that can perhaps be ported. Note, this function is currently not our main priority as of
7/1/2022
as we are focusing on our network security architecture framework.
