One day, a gamer named Sam stumbled upon Nintendo's Super Mario World,
since his friends had been telling him about how awesome this game was. So in excitement, he downloaded it, only to get tired of it for some time.
Later, he found an application called Mar.V2.exe
, which claimed it could "expand the game to reality". Sam, believing this strange claim decided to download it and run it. Nothing happened. He clicked it again. Nothing happened. He clicked it a last time and the app said "Cannot re-run rexs rewrite "super-mario-world[!].smc"
on nonexistent file." although it was clearly there. Out of frustration, he turns off his computer and takes a break from gaming.
Some time passed, and he found an app called Yosh's-Reign.smc in place of Super Mario World. He initially thought "Oh, my parents must have gotten this for me", but then saw a notification saying "Rewrite complete. App is now linked to [⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
]". Sam, intrigued by this new message decides to run the app and saw the title screen that used to read "Super Mario World (by Nintendo)" now reads "Yosh's Reign (by Yosh)". He was confused by this change, especially since all he saw was a Yoshi standing in the middle of the screen with a black belly, big pupils, and no boots.
Sam, finally being glad something was different about the game presses the start button and everything turns red for a split second. Did he see blood, or was it just his eyes? For whatever reason, multiplayer was no longer an option and he was forced to play Mario, or Mario with the name "Sam" in the top left. The load screen then read this:
Welcome! This is
Dinosaur Land. In
this strange land
something changed
something changed
something changed
something changed
something changed
Sam was already concerned with the title screen red flash, but now he saw this concerning welcome.
When the game fully started, the map was different and was fall-themed. Certain aspects seemed bigger, and certain stages didn't match up. So, Sam plays the stage that seems to look like Yoshi's house. But it appears to say "What's left of Yosh" instead.
When he went to Yosh's house, he saw the same Yoshi from the title screen, but it had blood on its claws and feet. It then said this:
Hello Sam! It's
nice to finally
meet you.
My name is Yosh.
Yosh, the Yoshi.
- Yosh 🐾
Then this Yoshi asks:
I have an offer
for you Sam.
If you help me
destroy the
Mushroom Kingdom
Accept?
>[Yes] [No]
Sam being bored with the original game after playing it so many times finds this potential new choice unsettling. However, since it was something new, he accepts the offer. The game then was renamed to HELP.smc, and Sam's adventure has just begun.
