I've had to make a few minor changes to a couple of the ocean recipes for the ESMValTool v2.0 Part 2 paper. It would be nice to push these changes through to the main branch before the paper is accepted for final publication.

Some of the changes include:

  • additional fields in the recipe_ocean_scalar_fields.yml
  • improvements to some of the plotting tools.
  • bug fixes in the diagnostic.

More details and a PR will follow.

Just to summarise (mostly for my own notes), the diagnostics/ocean plots made the figures:

  • Figure 21. The volume weighted global mean temperature anomaly in several CMIP5 models,
  • Figure 22. The Atlantic Meridional Overturn Circulation (AMOC) in several CMIP5 models
  • Figure 23. The Antarctic circumpolar current calculated through Drake Passage for a range of CMIP5
  • Figure 24. The global total air to sea flux of CO2 for a range of CMIP5 models
  • Figure 25. The global total integrated primary production from phytoplankton for a range of CMIP5
  • Figure 38. The surface dissolved nitrate concentration in the CMIP5
  • Figure 39. The surface dissolved nitrate concentration in the CMIP5 HadGEM2-ES model
  • Figure 40. The global area-weighted average depth profile of the dissolved nitrate concentration in the CMIP5

These figures are produced by:
