Describe the problem:

The terminal window fails to properly display after exiting the splash screen.

On Win10, the splash screen window will briefly animate, then cut to black until closed. The window control buttons are blacked-out, but reappear on-hover. On Ubuntu, the window disappears completely after the splash screen, while the app itself remains open. v1.0.197 works as-expected for Windows. (haven't tried building for ARM64)

Reproduction:

Install Tabby v1.0.198
Run the app
Splash screen will appear with a partially-loaded progress bar, flicker briefly, and either cut to black or disappear.
App will continue to run until closed

Can you check:

if there's anything in the terminal if you run Tabby without flags
if not, whether pressing Ctrl-Shift-i opens the debug console when Tabby is open
if not, run it with --inspect and open chrome://inspect in Chrome which will allow you to connect to the main process' debug console

Alright I ran the nightly build on my ARM64 instance, and it spat this GPU init error at me with --debug

[49644:0828/083005.932811:ERROR:viz_main_impl.cc(186)] Exiting GPU process due to errors during initialization

The portable and installer builds worked for me on Win10, but I installed them over v1.0.197. I'm curious if anything would break if I tried a fresh install.

Windows 11 Pro version 22H2 build 22621.2215
Brave browser & Chrome installed, Nvidia GTX1080Ti with latest Nvidia drivers on Windows, 16GB of RAM. 2 monitors.
Running tabby on monitor 1. It shows splashscreen animation but then stops and splashscreen becomes black box.
Debug keycombo not working and no difference running with --inspect.

Can reproduce at home computer and office laptop (win11pro).

The issue only seems to pop-up when you do a fresh install of Tabby. You can upgrade from previous versions fine, but new ones don't work.

I just installed a fresh build on Win10 and found that it's missing a config.yaml file and Tabby doesn't create one at runtime. If I throw in a config.yaml from another version, the app runs fine - even on a fresh install.
