1. Run the app
2. Make sure icons and default avatars render correctly throughout the app. (note that avatars aren't cached offline correctly, but that's a separate known issue)

FYI, this PR introduced a couple of major crashes on Android. Perhaps it wasn't reproducible for you all as it required a custom profile image? Reverted here.

I think its just another example showing that wider smoke testing would be valuable in preventing regressions. We'll never spot all of these issues with manual testing.

That's probably what it was. The account i was testing on didn't have a custom image
