Quantum does not support XUL.

kind of depends. SeaMonkey 2.57a1 (esr60 based) still have some kind of XUL extensions support.

@gdl-888 I suppose it very hard task.
@roytam1 did you try Seamonkey on Windows XP? I did. This is bad base.

Seamonkey 2.49.5 is on par with firefox 52 esr, but there is not many extension to support seamonkey directly.

Hi, does Quantum work with Windows 2000 Extended Kernel by blackwingcat?

Feodor2 commented Feb 12, 2022

Actual plan here

  1. Mypal 68 with video playback, direct9 and portable, though nothing more
  2. Mypal 78 the same
  3. Mypal 91 the same
  4. Decide on version to stay and focus
  5. Continue develop upon one version

@Typical0
Nothing to say about Windows 2000 do not have it in use, sure you will be to check yourself

@Feodor2 will this Quantum version support all Firefox addons ?

@roytam1 so what's your expected roadmap for 2022 ? Serpent Quantum ?

@roytam1 so what's your expected roadmap for 2022 ? Serpent Quantum ?

no roadmap from me, as I don't know how many free time I can have to focus on browser maintenance/developing besides $DAYJOB.

@andika207
Copy link

@roytam1 I rarely update my Serpent 52, maybe 1 or 2 times a year because I don't need to.
so do not throw in the towel and take a break whenever you need and just ignore those who want a new update weekly

@AroKol78

now updates are not frequent (last Serpent52-20220122)

I have uploaded, look first page.
Could not add DX9 support so this such a hassle.
But all basic things works, can play videos, including AV1, can install and use firefox extensions.
I continue to do DX9 as i can.

I am glad that you are back healthy.
I installed mypal 68 and really has to say, excellent job.

Is it possible to take over the stored passwords from MyPal 29.3?
Unfortunately, the copy of logins.json did not work.

Passwords can be adopted.
Even the German language file can be integrated from Firefox. Perfect.

@Anbima

Is it possible to take over the stored passwords from MyPal 29.3

logins.json not enough for sure, but i don't remember what else (key4.db???), search the web it is discussed about many times.

About multiprocess:
it is set by dom.ipc.processCount default is 8 and means 9, 0 means 1.

Also you can set portable as in the old mypal

Thus, the search works with Google in the search box, but not in the address field.
Is that a mistake with the search in the address field?

@Feodor2 glad to see you're still alive and posting new version. while I'm still trying to create a diff between firefox-68.12.0esr and mypal68, I'd like to ask how to compile it? is mozilla-build 2.2 from UXP building guidelines still usable for mypal68? or EWDK vs2017 has to be used? and what about rustc?

@Anbima Install this search engine Google No Country Redirect

After that open about:preferences#search
Select Google US and check

  • Provide search suggestions
    • Show search suggestions in address bar results
    • Show search suggestions ahead of browsing history in address bar results

@win98se are you kidding ?

no way will I be disabling multi processes function, ever since it was introduced on Firefox I couldn't live without it.
try out Basilisk on W7 or later... it's terrible junk without multi processes when you open heavy load tags so you have to either close the browser or wait long hours till it unfreeze @mattatobin

@win98se

win98se commented Apr 14, 2022

You must have not read the Mozilla wiki page at all. It is stated clearly that the multi-process feature is totally NOT STABLE on Windows XP, regardless of performance.

And this is unrelated to M. A. Tobin and his (now previous) works.

@andika207

You must have not read the Mozilla wiki page at all.

@win98se I have not read nor will I ever read that shit that you repeat like a parrot in multiple open issues to make everybody think the culprit is Firefox and not the buggy Mypal @Feodor2

Firefox (pre 52 ESR) was quite unstable and used to crash too often long before the multi process function came on the scene.
Firefox 52 is faster or smoother than Serpent 52 @roytam1 with multi process enabled on both but I never suffered from BSOD, indeed the original Chrome 49 was far more unstable than Firefox could have ever been.

@andika207 There is no point having any argument with you because of your ego, and that you are only believing anything you want to believe, also disregarding everything else from everybody, including Mozilla. It's not like I'm the one adding these statements in Mozilla's wiki, right? And I don't even have the power nor influence nor rights to influence anyone, or in your words, “to make everybody think” about e10s' instability on Windows XP. I am just stating facts here.

@andika207

@andika207 you are only believing anything you want to believe I am just stating facts here.

@win98se I believe on my personal experience not on a parrot who spread nonsense all over github issues.
only thing I have read years ago is that the e10s may interact with other addons, nothing else.
I just checked this value on S52 dom.ipc.processCount and it's 20... I don't recall ever having a single BSOD

the problem is that you think everyone so far has been surfing with Mypal 29 without multi process and now the crashes on Mypal 68 are supposedly caused by multi process... your facts are just ridiculous.
