It would be useful to have a view mode that works similar to the existing Solid option, but tints cubes/meshes based on their marker color. This would allow better visibility of where cubes or meshes are adjacent, as currently they are indistinguishable from each other when using solid mode. Here's a mockup with an example showing a single mesh object on the left, and 3 on the right:
