Admin Instructions
Admin is the highest role available while playing with HEROs Mod in multiplayer. It grants permission to use any tool. This role is always available.
There are several ways to become admin. The easiest way is to be the first user to register with HEROs Mod. The next way is to access the server console and use the auth code in game. The final way is to just edit the HEROsModDatabase.json file and set a user to the -1 group. Of course, if another user is admin, they can easily just change a users permission group to admin as well.
This method is simple. Simply join your server before inviting friends and register a username with HEROs Mod. This method usually works, but sometimes people forget their username or their friends join their multiplayer session before them.
In the multiplayer console, you can type "HEROsAdmin" into the console and you will be provided a code to use in-game. To see the multiplayer console, either launch start-tModLoaderServer.bat manually or you can set Show Server Console to On while starting Host and Play: example. Follow the instructions and you will become Admin. If this doesn't work, read below.
As a last resort, you can edit HEROsModDatabase.json. First, make sure Terraria and your server are closed. Then, navigate to %UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\Terraria\tModLoader\ and open up HEROsModDatabase.json in a text editor. Simply find the user you want to promote to admin and change their group to -1. Save, start up the server, and log in. You should be admin now.
You can delete the HEROsModDatabase.json file instead to start fresh. All users, regions, permissions, etc will be reset. When the server is then launched, the first user to join will then become admin.
In game, simply use the "View Connected Players" tool, click on the user you wish to promote, then use the dropdown menu to assign them the Admin group.
