One exercise of the LC is supposed to contain a task where learners create a new item on Wikidata and add a new statement to an already existing item. The issue that we face right now is which kind of items we should chose. The items/entities need to meet some criteria:

  • have something to do with libraries
  • don't exist yet
  • have enough relevance, so they won't be deleted by other people after the lesson
  • can be updated automatically (by a bot)

Alternatively we can use the Wikidata Sandbox. But creating items in the "real world" of Wikidata is preferable. If you have any ideas please share them :)

One idea: Look for your home town public library, and edit the item or create it as needed? Add geographical coordinates?

Another idea, perhaps requiring more preparation: Find an item for a person or organization that is not linked to an external identifier (LC name authority, ISNI number, MusicBrainz artist ID, etc) and add the appropriate identifier?

Thanks, @eslao. This would need indeed preparation. Our current solution is to work with the sandbox to be on the safe side.
