Notes:

If you get an error message that serial can't be found, then in addition to installing the code at this git site, you'll have to install the python3-serial package (note, not python-serial).
Tested Oct 21, 2017 by connecting an ONLINE Gamma-Scout to Debian 9.2 Stretch.
