Command-line interface guidance

At the moment there is no UI, so I need some guidance as to how to create data structure instances interactively. For example, could someone tell me how to build this diagram:

Since there is no contraction yet, there is no nice way to construct that diagram. One could in theory piece together the data structure manually for small examples like this, but depending on how the progress on contraction is going it might not be worth the effort.
