Workarounds for Known Bugs
There are certain issues which some OpenShot users may encounter that have been previously reported and analyzed by the developers. In some cases, while we haven't yet been able to release a fix, a workaround is available to bypass the problem. If you encounter any of the issues listed here, or you are directed to this wiki page by another OpenShot user or developer, the information below can get you back to creating great content with OpenShot.
For some users running OpenShot on smaller displays, the automatic positioning of the third Tutorial popup may cause it to extend off the bottom edge of the screen, making it impossible to hit the Next button and advance to the next step in the tutorial.
The positioning of the tutorial popups is controlled by the location of the OpenShot user interface elements they're connected to. The third popup, in particular, is placed relative to the top of the Timeline (bottom) section of the OpenShot window. To prevent the popup from extending below the edge of the screen, resize the Timeline area to take up more of the OpenShot window, so that the Timeline is taller and its top edge is farther from the bottom of the screen.
If the OpenShot main window initially looks like this:
Enlarge the Timeline by clicking and dragging the dotted line "handle" in the center of the window, moving it upwards away from the bottom edge of the screen.
Drag this handle upwards:
So that when you're done, OpenShot looks more like this:
As long as you can see three tracks in the timeline area, it should be tall enough. Now as you work through the Tutorial steps, the Timeline popup will no longer be positioned below the bottom edge of the screen.
